The Professor and P.M.

 

एकदा अस्माकं प्रथमप्रधानमन्त्री देशेतिहासविज्ञानः स्वगृहाय वङ्गीयप्राध्यापकेन अस्मदीयदेशविवासेन आहूत आसीत्  | अलंकृतायां गृहभित्त्यां वास्तविकं
रवीन्द्रनाथठाकुरवर्णनं मन्त्रिणा दृष्टम् |
अय्यो गुरुजी एतत् रवीन्द्रनाथठाकुरवर्णनम् एव अस्ति एतत् मे रोचते एतत् चारु आलिखितम् आसीत् कृपया भवतःलभेय इति मन्त्री अवक् | न न  नहि अन्यं तस्य वर्णनम् मया आलेखिष्यते तत् च एकं भवते दास्यते इति वङ्गीयपण्डितः प्रत्यवदत् | प्राध्यापकस्य आदरणीयपत्नी या अपि तत्र आसीत् अरे मधु कृपया साधुजनाय वर्णनं ददातु इदं तस्मै अतीवरोचते भवान् च अन्यम् आलिखयेत् इति उक्तवती | देवि भवतु इति प्रत्यवदत् | सश्च प्रधानमन्त्रिणे प्रसिद्धमहाकविवर्णनम् अददात् ||

Once our first Prime Minister whose knowledge was the history of the region, was invited by the Bengalese Professor, whose residence was in our country to his own home. On the decorative wall of the home a authentic painting of Rabindranath Tagore was seen by the Minister.
The Minister said," oh my goodness this is really a painting of Rabindranath Tagore, I like it,it was painted beautifully, please may I have it."
The Bengalese scholar replied," no no nah ! another painting of him will be painted by me and that one will be given to you."
The  respectable wife of the professor who was also there said,"hey! honey ! Please give the goodly gentleman the painting he really likes it and you could paint another."
"Oh Devi so be it," he replied and he gave the painting of the great renowned poet to the Prime Minister..
