The Cloud is still carrying the message

फस्बुक-द्वारा एतं संस्कृतछात्रं मिलितवान् अहम् | सः उक्तवान् अहं संस्कृतछात्रः अस्मि किन्तु प्रधानतः काव्यशस्त्रस्य छात्रः अस्मि  इति | अहं भाषायाः स्वविज्ञानम् उत्कृष्टम् अस्ति इति मन्ये |
आवां भाषायाः बहुषु विषयेषु समजल्पाव | यद्महदाश्चर्यम् सः कालिदासमेघदूतस्य प्रथमश्लोकम् उद्गातुम् आरभे "कश्चित्कान्ताविरहगुरुणा स्वाधिकारात्प्रमत्तः शापेनास्तंगमितमहिमा वर्षभोग्येण
भर्तुः"  इत्यादिम्  | अहं काव्यस्य अबहून्  इमान् शब्दान् श्रुत्वा परमविस्मितः अभवम् |  मम  आनन्दः जातः आसीत् यस्मात् बहु पूर्वमेव अहम् आङ्ग्लभाषायाम् अन्तर् इदम्  काव्यम्  अनुवदितुं यतितः किन्तु अहं दीनकम् अह्वलम् | इदानीम् मम नूतनसंस्कृत मित्रं स्व-स्मृतेः इमं श्लोकम्  उदगायत् | यदि अहं काव्यस्य प्राकृतरूपे  इमान्  समानान्  शब्दान् अपश्यम्  तर्हि दीनम्  अहं तान् पठितुं सम्यक् शक्नुयाम्  न | न यावत् श्लोकस्य शब्दाः विग्राहम् वर्तन्ते |  सुष्ठु अवरतः सः तस्य  काञ्चित् शब्दान्  वक्तुम्  माम्  उपाकरोत् ||

I met this Sanskrit student via Facebook . He said,"I am Sanskrit student but mainly a student of poetics." I think  his knowledge of the language is outstanding. We both conversed on many topics of the language. What was surprising he began to chant the first verse of Kalidasa's Meghadoota . "कश्चित्कान्ताविरहगुरुणा स्वाधिकारात्प्रमत्तः शापेनास्तंगमितमहिमा वर्षभोग्येण भर्तुः"etc . Having heard those few words of the poem I became greatly amazed. My joy arose because long before I attempted to translate that poem into English however I failed miserably. Now my new Sanskrit friend chanted this verse from his own memory. If I saw those same words in the original form of the poem then sadly I wouldn't correctly be able to read them, not unless the words of the verse are in portions. Well at least he helped me to say some words of  it.
