सवनिरागः इति इदानीम् अहम् एतेन रागेण संपूर्णम् परिकर्षणम् आगतवान् | अयं रागः मया इतोऽपि उपाश्रूयत|अपि च अहम् अनुचिन्तयामि अयं गायकः भारते आङ्ग्लशासनस्य अधःप्रसिद्धःअतीव आसीत् अपि च अयं कालः भारते गायकेभ्यः कष्टः आसीत् इति | किन्तु तस्य गायकस्य विषये मम सम्भावना सम्यक् आसीत् सः कर्णाटकसङ्गीतस्य रीत्याम् प्रगायी प्रथमतः आरभत इति तथा तस्य रीतिः अद्वितीया आसीत् इदानीम् च इयं अद्वितीया इतोऽपि अस्ति | तस्य वाक् भिम्सेन्-जोशी-पण्डितस्य सृप्र-सुन्दरीवाचम् इव न भवेत् | तस्य वाक् कण्ठ्या अधिकम् आसीत् | परन्तु रागाणां स्वाधिगमः अप्रतिमः आसीत् | कर्णाटकसङ्गीतस्य प्रभावः अपि अदर्शयत् | अपि च तस्य अतिद्वयशक्तिः तालस्य समभ्याहारेण सह गानीयरचनायाम् अन्तर् गन्तुम् रागस्य आलापम् उत्तरलीकरोति | इयं रीतिः काभ्यश्चित्पङ्क्तिकाभ्यः श्रोतृवर्गान् पर्यब्रवत् |....
Sawani ,Now I came full circle with this raaga .This raaga is still listened to by me , and also I consider that, this singer was very famous under British rule in India, and also that time was difficult for singer in India. However my assumption about him was correct. He firstly started singing in the style of Carnatic music. So his style was unique and now is still unique. His voice may not be as sweet and smooth as Pandit Bhimsen Joshi .His voice was more husky "guttural" However his mastery of raagas was without a match. The influence of the Carnatic music was shown and also his unique ability to skip over the alap of the raga to go in to the composition along with percussion accompaniment of the taal. This style enchanted audiences for decades.........
