अनन्तरम् नवरात्रिः परिसमाप्ता आसीत् | वयं सर्वे दीपोत्सवम् अन्तर् साक्षात् गमिष्यामः | मम देशे वयं वदामः दिवलि इति किन्तु नूतनसंस्कृतछात्रः इव भवेत् | वयं संस्कृतभाषया आश्रयेम | वदेम दीपावली इति | तथा गतरात्रौ अहं शिवहोमम् गतवान् | सर्वेषाम् शिवमन्त्राणाम् परेण अधिकतराणि बिल्वपत्राणि देव्यै अग्नौ अन्तर् उद्यन्तुं मया अर्थितानि | केवलम् तर्हि अहं शिवहोमः परिसमाप्तः इति अनुचिन्तयामि स्म | यर्हि अयं होमः परिसमाप्तः आसीत् तर्हि केचन जनाः समगान् तेच प्रजल्पितुम् आरभन्त | एका बालिका मां पृच्छति स्म किमर्थं भवान् देव्यै बिल्वपत्राणि इच्छति स्म वयं च शिवहोमम् कुर्वन्तः आस्म इति | मम नम्रोत्तरम् आसीत् "मम शिक्षकः एकदा आशात् यदा शिवः पूज्यते | तदा पूजायाः समापनम् शिवायाः पूजनेन क्रियते | या पार्वती अस्ति | यदि इदं न क्रियते तर्हि इयं पूजा अपूर्णा भवति | किन्तु शिवायाः पूजने शिवपूजा आवश्यकी नास्ति इति | तथा तस्य सूचनाःमया सुपर्यवसिताः आसन् " इति | सा मम उत्तरेण व्याकुलम् प्रत्यभात् | तथा अहमपि उक्तवान् देवी शक्तिः अस्ति | भवती च समाजे तस्याः शक्तेः प्रतिरूपा अस्ति | अचिरेण दीपावली आगमिष्यति | भवती अपि च विष्णुपत्नी इव उत्सवस्य दीपिका भवेत् |

After Navaratri was completed , we all will go straight into the festival of lights . In my country we say Divali,however like a new Sanskrit student should be we should adhere with the Sanskrit language we should say Deepavali . So last night I went to a Shiva Homa. After all the Shiva mantras more bilva leaves were requested by me to offer into the fire for the Goddess. Only then I considered the Homa completed. When the ritual was completed then some people gathered and they began to chat. One young woman asked me," what is the reason you wanted bilva leaves for the Goddess and we were doing a Shiva ritual?" My humble response was," my teacher once instructed , whenever Shiva ji is worshiped then the completion of the worship is done with the worshiping of Durga who is Parvati .If this is not done then that ritual becomes incomplete. However in the worshiping of Durga Shivapuja is not necessary. so his instructions were carried out." She appeared perplexed by my reply.So I also said," The Goddess is power and you are a representation of this power in society. Soon Deepavali will come and also you could be a light of the festival like Sri LakSmi." She smile....
