मालकंसरागः

 

मालकंसरागः
सःयःमालाः इव सर्पान् धारयति इति व्युत्पत्तिः |
एषःरागःशिवभक्तगानीयविद्यालयतःजातः |
वास्तवे अधिकतमाःपञ्चस्वररागाः
शिवभक्तगानीयविद्यालयेभ्यःजाताः ||

रागःअलघुःविमर्शवान् वर्तते अयं च अधस्तनस्वरग्रामतःनिर्वृत्तः
बहु वर्तते | उरुरात्रौ उत्तमसमयः एतस्मै रागाय भवति | अस्य रागस्य परिणामाःमद्वन्तःप्रसादनाःसन्ति ||

उच्यते श्रीपार्वती शिवस्य शमनाय रागं लिखितवती |  महादेवस्य एवमपि भूतपिशाचवेतालाः एतं रागं श्रोतुं
स्वनिवासेभ्यः निर्गच्छन्ति इतियादयः ||

Raag Malkauns
He who wear serpents like garlands, is the meaning. This Raag Shaivite Musical school, in fact most pentatonic Raaga come from Shaivite musical schools.

The Raag is deep and meditative and it mostly developed from lower five notes of the octave. At  late night is the best time for this Raag. The effects of this Raag is intoxicating and calming.

It is said Ma Shree Parvati wrote the Raag for the claiming of Shiva even the spirits ghost goblin etc come out from their abodes to hear this Raag.
